Summarize YouTube videos

Open a YouTube video and InTab can summarize it before you commit ten minutes to it.

How to trigger it

  • A Summarize button is added to the watch page; hover a thumbnail for a “Tap to summarize” overlay.
  • Turn on auto-summarize in Settings → YouTube to have it run on every video you open.
  • Right-click a YouTube link anywhere and choose Summarize YouTube video with InTab.
  • Summaries also collect in the side panel as a browsable queue, each tagged with its value score.

What you get

  • Summary - in your chosen style: Bullets (default), Paragraphs, Outline (a TL;DR plus timestamped sections), or TL;DR. It streams in as it generates.
  • Chapters - AI-generated chapters with timestamps you can jump to.
  • Value score - a 0 to 100 rating with a one-line verdict, bucketed into Worth Watching, Mixed, Low, Clickbait, or Skip. It’s an AI heuristic (novelty and substance vs. clickbait), not an objective rating.
  • A per-video Ask AI chat for every plan, plus Suggested questions on Pro and Max, so you can interrogate the content and jump back to the moment it’s discussed.

Skip the boring parts

In Settings → YouTube you can auto-skip chapter types (filler, sponsors, and optionally mixed), skip long silences, and control the summary length, style, timestamps, chapters, and output language.

Notes & limits

  • Free plans include a small number of summaries per day; Pro and Max include far more.
  • InTab reads the video’s transcript to summarize it. When YouTube blocks caption access from your IP, Pro and Max have a limited server-side transcript fallback (fair-use ~3 hours of video/day).
