Dictate & listen (voice)
InTab has two voice features: dictation (speech → text) and listen (text → speech).
Dictate
The Dictate mic button in the AI chat composer turns speech into text. Click it, speak, and the words appear in the field. The language is detected automatically, so you can dictate in many languages without picking one first. Controls include Pause, Resume, and Done, and you’ll get a clear prompt if microphone access is blocked.
Under the hood your recorded audio is sent to InTab’s backend for transcription. Free plans include a daily amount of dictation time; Pro and Max include much more. See AI usage limits explained.
Listen (read aloud)
To have text read to you:
- Select text on any page and choose Listen in the selection popover, or
- Right-click a selection and pick Listen (Read aloud).
A playback bar appears with Pause/Resume and a speed control (1×, 1.5×, 2×, 2.5×) that’s remembered for next time. There’s also Read aloud inside the AI chat and a Read action on YouTube chapters, plus a spoken forecast in the weather widget.
Listen uses a natural voice generated on InTab’s backend. A single request is capped at 5,000 characters, and usage is metered by characters (generous on Pro/Max, limited on free).
