Unified search & Ask AI
The search bar at the top of the Tabs, Bookmarks, and History panels searches everything at once, so you don’t have to remember where you saw something.
What it searches
A single query looks across:
- open tabs,
- bookmarks,
- browsing history (last 90 days),
- saved tab groups and saved tabs,
- downloads and the reading list, and
- (via the AI mention engine) your text highlights and past AI chats.
Results are ranked with fuzzy matching plus recency, so the thing you touched most recently tends to surface first. Press Enter to open the top result, or click View in… to jump to that panel with the item scrolled into view.
Two modes: Search and Ask AI
The bar has two modes:
- Search - instant, local results as you type. Nothing leaves your device.
- Ask AI - type a natural-language question (“what did I read about pricing last week?”) and InTab answers using your browsing context.
The Bookmarks and History panels frame this as “Ask AI or Search…” with quick suggestions like find duplicates, videos I watched, or GitHub repos.
Voice search
Click the mic in the bar to dictate your query instead of typing.
Good to know
- History and bookmarks results only appear after you grant those optional permissions (see Install InTab). The data is searched on your device.
- The Ask AI path needs you to be signed in, and it counts toward your AI limits. When free limits run out you’ll see an upgrade prompt. See AI usage limits explained.
- For a global launcher that also runs actions (not just search), use the command palette.
