Optimize downloaded images
InTab can automatically compress and convert images as you download them, so you save disk space without a manual step. Turn it on in Settings → Images.
What it does
When you download an image, InTab intercepts it, re-encodes it to your chosen settings, and saves the optimized version. It only touches raster web images it can safely decode - PNG, JPEG, WebP, and AVIF. SVGs, GIFs, and non-image downloads pass straight through untouched.
Settings
- Target format - PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, or keep the original format.
- Quality - 1 to 100 (default 80); applies to the lossy formats.
- Resize - none, or by width, height, or percent. InTab never upscales.
- File-size limit - cap the output (e.g. “under 300 KB”); InTab steps quality down until it fits.
Reliability
InTab uses your browser’s fast native encoder where it can, and bundled WebAssembly codecs as a fallback (AVIF always uses these). There are guards against decompression-bomb images. If optimization ever fails, the original image downloads untouched - you never lose the file. A small progress toast offers Download original at any time.
Limits
Image Optimizer runs entirely on your device with no daily cap on any plan. Smart Screenshot AI analysis needs Pro or Max (25/day on Pro, 100/day on Max); basic screenshot capture and editing is free with no limit. See AI usage limits explained.
